Next big thing?
So, we all gorged ourselves on vampires, and then weres (or was it the other way around? I get confused), then weres AND vamps together! then the witches and the Fae/Faerie (especially in the YA books) came along, only to be followed by the beautiful winged ones (Angels with a capital A) and demons… (Please excuse me if I have totally screwed that order up! Feel like we need a Urban Fantasy...

Review: Iron Crowned – not quite gold but still...
Solid fans of Richelle Mead with need little encouragement to dive into her new book in the Dark Swan series “Iron Crowned”.  I first became a fan of this author with her succubus series, although I do have to admit the last one in that series failed to keep my attention. I think I just have a distinct dislike for books written in a “diary” style, it always seems to go deliving into the psyche of...

Review: A Delicious Southern Gothic - The Restorer
Taphophilia: is a passion for and enjoyment of cemeteries. The singular term is a taphophile. I love books that open my eyes to a whole new world, and in this case it wasn’t the things that go bump in the night, demons and the supernatural, but rather the love of cemeteries and the cemetery restoration, a passion I had no idea existed. The premise of The Restorer by Amanda Stevens is truly...

Lendle eBook Lending Service Reportedly Revoked... →
One of the biggest issues with Kindle books for me is this- inability to lend to friends. We would love to share books here at BBB! bibliofeminista: The eBook lending connection service Lendle has been cut off by Amazon. The company connected Kindle users who wished to take advantage of Amazon’s digital book lending service. Lendle tweeted the news this afternoon: “Amazon has revoked...

When freebies go bad
I have had some amazing experiences with the free urban fantasy books on Amazon (the book that opened the door to the Fever series for one, which was also a genius marketing move because I bought the next four faster than you could blink) and then some not-so-good ones. The latest, Grave Illusions by Lina Gardiner, was one of those. Can’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t connect...

Anyone checked out Urban Fantasy Month on Pocket...
Pocket After Dark is going crazy with UF goodies this month, including free books that you can’t download but you can read online, including the funny Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs. So if you can stomach online reading, head on over and check it out ( I think you have to sign up first but it’s pretty simple).

Teaser Tuesday - this looks interesting! →
might have to try this next Tuesday almybnenr: Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: Grab your current read. Let the book fall open to a random page. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. Be careful not to…

Oh! and another one- Follow My Book Blog Friday!
This blog hop came from Parajunkee’s View: and the question is: How did you come up with your blog name? Well, our thing is the paranormal/supernatural books and everything we read has either weres (beasts) or vampires (bites) and then we decided to go mad with the ‘B’s and add Books to the title! So there you have it- Beasts, Bites and Books.

Book Blogger Hop Newbies
We’re brand new at this but looks like a great way to find other blogs! We stumbled on this via Crazy For Books So the question this week is do you read one book at a time or have several going at once? Ummmm… embarrassing to admit, but yes, I read several at one time and honestly I don’t think it’s a good habit, but sometimes when a book just isn’t capturing me...

JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood Series →
Ok, I had the same initial reaction with this series but never got past it! Maybe I should try again… anyone else out there like the JR Ward books? womaninterrupted: Okay, so in lieu of obsessing over the currently-on-hiatus True Blood (read: ASkars obsession) it was recommended that I read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. Having read the lovely Charlain Harris’s Sookie...

Review: Don't judge a book by its cover- Tempest...
I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so deceived or influenced by a cover as much as I was by this one: I’ve been circling around this book for about a year because of that cover- it is YA? Is it one of those ‘comedy paranormals’? (Which I can’t stand but will leave that rant for another post!). On and off it went from my wish list, until last week when I saw...

springs-joy asked: Hey I love your blog, as is I love the topic of it. Have you ever read any of Laura Anne Gilman's books she does a series that is fantastic and if you like Charline Harris or Karen Marie Moning you guys will love Gilman. Also I was wondering if you guys like vampire novels because P.C. Cast and Kirstin Cast write the House of Night series which is also amazing!

Review: Almost Cinderella meets Shrek- Switched
Somewhere in-between a free sample offer on Kindle and the $0.99 price tag I found myself knee deep in Book 1 of the “Trylle Trilogy” by Amanda Hocking called “Switched”. I should probably have realised it was young adult fiction in a similar way to Twilight, but I have to admit that the central character “Wendy” got me hooked. Somewhat predictably Wendy is an out-cast at school, socially...
